Terms and conditions

• 1. Who is covered by the GTC?

  These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) on the one hand apply to:

  - In Debrecen: Knowland Games Kft. (4025 Debrecen, Széchenyi u. 40.)
  - In Sopron: Knowland Escape Kft. (8600 Siófok, Bláthy Ottó u. 16. ground floor 1.)

  (hereinafter referred to as Knowland as the service provider), and on the other hand to any person who uses Knowland’s services (player).

• 2. Possibility of deviation from the GTC

  Knowland undertakes to provide services under terms differing from the present GTC exclusively on the basis of a separate written agreement. In the event of any discrepancy between the GTC and the separate written agreement, the latter shall prevail. In matters not regulated by the separate written agreement, the present GTC shall apply.

• 3. Subject of the GTC

  The subject of the present GTC is the services provided by Knowland, the organization of escape room games, and activities related to the service, with particular regard to the following:

• I. Booking:

  • 1. Bookings for games can be made on the website www.knowland.hu or by phone. By creating a booking, the present GTC are accepted.
  • 2. When booking, providing real and accurate data is mandatory. If Knowland becomes aware that the data provided by the player contain non-real elements, Knowland is entitled to partially or fully restrict the player’s access to the service.
  • 3. After a successful booking, we send a confirmation by e-mail.
  • 4. The booking reference number may be requested on site for identification purposes.
  • 5. Cancellation of a booking or rescheduling to another time slot is only accepted within 24 hours prior to the selected time.
  • 6. In case of a delay of 15 minutes, the game time will start.
  • 7. Knowland reserves the right to suspend games due to maintenance or changes. Reserved time slots may be cancelled after prior notification, or an alternative may be proposed.

• II. Gift vouchers:

  • 1. The voucher entitles the holder to a single participation with the number of participants specified on the voucher, at one of the available time slots listed on www.knowland.hu.
  • 2. Bookings made with a voucher through the online system are final and cannot be revoked.
  • 3. If the booked time is not kept or the service is not used, Knowland is not obliged to offer an alternative time slot.
  • 4. The voucher cannot be exchanged for cash and serves exclusively as a means of payment for escape room games and other services.
  • 5. The voucher is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
  • 6. By making a valid booking, the user automatically accepts the terms of use.
  • 7. Knowland assumes no liability for financial damage resulting from the loss of the voucher or the intentional misappropriation of the coupon code by a third party.
  • 8. Full-price gift vouchers are valid for 1 year from the date of issue; extension of validity is possible upon payment of a surcharge determined by the service provider.
  • 9. In the case of discounted or promotional gift vouchers, validity may vary individually; the player will be informed during the purchase process and accepts this upon completing the purchase.

• III. Payment:

  • 1. The price of the game and gift vouchers can be found on the website www.knowland.hu during the booking process.
  • 2. Ticket and gift voucher purchases can be made through the Barion payment system or by cash payment on site. Split payments are not possible; the total amount must be settled using only one payment method. During purchase, bank transfer may also be selected; in this case, depending on the chosen location, the player transfers the purchase amount to the bank account of either Knowland Games Kft. or Knowland Escape Kft. Online bank card payments are processed through the Barion system. Bank card details are not transferred to the merchant. The service provider, Barion Payment Zrt., is an institution supervised by the National Bank of Hungary; license number: H-EN-I-1064/2013.
  • 3. A maximum of one discount may be applied per game; discounts cannot be combined.

• IV. Participation in the game:

  • 1. Games can only be played up to a predefined maximum number of participants. This number is indicated for each game on the website www.knowland.hu. If more players than the maximum wish to participate, this may only take place with prior consultation and with Knowland’s consent. The duration of each game is always indicated on www.knowland.hu.
  • 2. Comfortable clothing is recommended. There is no secure storage on site; therefore, it is recommended to take bags and valuables into the rooms.
  • 3. The environment and use of escape rooms and our other games differ from ordinary everyday rooms; therefore, each player is required to listen to a short briefing before the game and to cooperate closely with Knowland staff.
  • 4. Escape room games are simulation games in enclosed rooms, which may involve significant mental stress and, in some cases, physical exertion.
  • 5. Participation in our games involves various dangers and risks and is not recommended for persons with certain medical or phobic conditions.
  • 6. Everyone uses Knowland’s games at their own risk and on a voluntary basis.
  • 7. Escape rooms may be used independently by persons over the age of 14. For players under the age of 14, adult supervision is mandatory. Animals may only be brought into the game rooms with prior permission.
  • 8. Persons under the influence of alcohol, medication, drugs, or other mind-altering substances, or who display inappropriate behavior, may be excluded from the game.
  • 9. Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire area of the game rooms and the premises.
  • 10. Persons participating in Knowland’s games are obliged to:
    • • use the furnishings as intended and strive to preserve their condition
    • • not enter areas closed to visitors
    • • immediately notify Knowland staff if a hazard or damaged equipment is noticed
    • • immediately notify Knowland staff if signs of illness are noticed
    • • cooperate with other participants
    • • fully comply with the instructions of Knowland staff
    • • compensate for any damage caused by improper use

• V. Data protection

  • 1. Knowland has a data protection policy available at: https://knowland.hu/en/privacy
  • 2. Knowland informs players that video surveillance is carried out in the escape rooms and other games.

• VI. Miscellaneous

  • 1. In matters not regulated by the GTC, Hungarian law shall apply. Hungarian courts have jurisdiction over disputes arising in connection with the present GTC.
